[ pause ] >> and we're having some issues with that story right now. we are going to try to get that back to you. in the meantime, we do want to tell you that people nationwide, they are honoring the victims of the mass shooting in connecticut. locally, dozens gathered last night for a vigil in gilroy. organizers at south valley community church say it gave people a chance to get together and share their thoughts. >> having an environment a venue like this i think helps people kind of process it and then being able to give resources that kind of help people continue that journey. >> the names of all the newtown victims were read and a candle was lit for each of them. another vigil is planned at 6:00 tonight at amaral park in pleasanton. >>> well, this morning a more detailed picture is emerging of the gunman who killed more than two dozen people. acquaintances of adam lanza was smart but his mother who was also killed told friends he had a mental disability. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in our newsroom with more. >>> reporter: a man who b

with connecticut gunman lanza. workers at a newtown hair salon where lanza and his mother were regular customers say they never heard him speak. they say that his mother nancy lanza would give her son directions about what to do and where to go. meanwhile investigators are still not clear about what motivated him to open fire at that elementary school school on friday. cbs news's marlie hall has more live from newtown. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. while the motive behind this tragic school shooting remains unclear, one thing is for sure, emotions are still raw here in newtown, connecticut. five funerals are scheduled for today in this one small town and people are still reeling. hundreds gathered for memorial service to remember sandy hook elementary principal dawn hochsprung. she died trying to stop the shooter after he broke into the school. >> you don't have to know her. you just have to know what she did is an act of selflessness and that touches humanity. >> reporter: hochsprung's funeral is just one of five that will be held today. tuesday saw two more children laid to rest. 6-
in newtown, connecticut today. as well as attend an interfaith vigil where he will speak. federal agents plan to target gun stores and shooting ranges across connecticut in hopes of finding clues about the gunman, adam lanza. it has now been revealed that there is no link between lanza's mother and the school. contrary to earlier reports that said nancy lanza was a teacher at sandy hook elementary. rene marsh continues our coverage. >> this quiet new in town is searching for answers. >> i am also a teacher i could not know how or what she realized. >> her friend, victoria soto died protecting her students. the names and ages of the 20 children were released on saturday. one of those children is emily. >> my daughter is one of the first that would be giving her support to support. >> as we move on from what happened here, what happened to so many people let it not turn into something that defines us. something that inspires us to be better, more compassionate and more humble. >> the governor of connecticut and turk to speak and echoed the sentiments. >> there will be to discussions about publi
